Alpha Order Number and Subnumber . The four digit<br />
alpha order numbers are assigned each station to denote its<br />
order in alphabetical sequence, mainly for machine processing.<br />
As the collection <strong>of</strong> <strong>data</strong> progressed, it was found necessary<br />
to add a subnumber <strong>of</strong> two digits to the four digit alpha<br />
number to maintain the alphabetical order <strong>of</strong> all station names<br />
