the ground equipments whose procurement is budgeted by the<br />

Marine Corps.<br />

(7) Funding for transportation required to support/resupply FMF<br />

ground units is the responsibility of the Marine Corps.<br />

b. Marine Corps Reserve Units. Responsibility for funding the cost of<br />

transportation (personnel and equipment) related to Marine Corps<br />

Reserve unit rotational movements and relocations is assigned in<br />

accordance with the principle of command line funding, as follows:<br />

(1) Funding for transportation of Marine Corps Reserve ground<br />

units for rotational movements and unit relocations is the<br />

responsibility of the Commandant of the Marine Corps.<br />

(2) Funding for transportation of Marine Corps Reserve air units<br />

for deployments/redeployments for training/readiness is the<br />

responsibility of the Chief of Naval Reserve. Transportation of<br />

aviation unit equipment to and from annual training duty is<br />

included in the responsibility of the Chief of Naval Reserve. The<br />

movement of personnel under authority of orders citing the<br />

Reserve Personnel, Marine Corps appropriation in connection with<br />

annual training duty is the responsibility of the Commandant of the<br />

Marine Corps.<br />

(3) Funding for transportation of Commandant of the Marine<br />

Corps directed relocations of Marine Corps Reserve Air units is the<br />

responsibility of the Commandant of the Marine Corps.<br />

075183 TEMPORARY ADDITIONAL DUTY TRAVEL<br />

1. SCOPE. Temporary additional duty (TAD) travel consists of travel to<br />

one or more places away from a permanent or temporary duty station to<br />

perform duties for a temporary period of time and, upon completion of the<br />

assignment, return to the permanent or temporary duty station.<br />

2. BUDGET <strong>POLICY</strong><br />

a. General. As a general policy, the resources available to support the<br />

program in whose interest the travel is performed will fund the TAD<br />

travel requirements of both military and civilian personnel of the<br />

Department of the Navy. Since most TAD travel requirements arise in<br />

connection with the operational and administrative functions<br />

performed at headquarters and field activities, TAD travel<br />

requirements are generally funded by the same funding source which<br />

supports the day-to-day operations of the activity to which the<br />

employee is assigned (see subpar. 3). However, exceptions to the<br />

general policy and special provisions governing the use of various<br />
