(b) Administration-Authorization.<br />

Naval District Commandants, via their respective district<br />

medical or dental officers, act as approving officers to<br />

authorize procurement of civilian and/or non-Federal care<br />

and to adjudicate claims. However, in overseas areas,<br />

commanding officers are authorized to obtain such care for<br />

members under their commands and to effect immediate<br />

payment therefore. When ships are in NATO-SOFA ports,<br />

commanding officers should obtain, if at all practicable,<br />

required care from military facilities of the host country<br />

when DoD facilities are not available. For further<br />

information regarding types of care that may be authorized,<br />

requests for authorization and/or information concerning<br />

preparation, approval, or disapproval of claims, see the<br />

current issuance of BUMEDINST 6320.1A.<br />

4. AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SURGEON GENERAL OF<br />

THE NAVY.<br />

The authority and responsibility of the Surgeon General of the Navy with<br />

respect to technical control and supervision of all medical and dental care<br />

in the Navy are not modified or reduced by the instructions contained in<br />

subpar. 3. The Bureau of Medicine and Surgery exercises technical<br />

control over all technical medical equipment, including ambulances, and<br />

in the exercise of this control approves the procurement of such items for<br />

075134 PRINTING SERVICES<br />

1. GENERAL.<br />

Printing offices are operated as Working Capital Fund (WCF) activities<br />

and the supporting activity will bill these offices for facilities and services<br />

provided within the guidance of par. 075121. All services provided by the<br />

printing offices will be charged to the customers in accordance with WCF<br />

regulations.<br />

2. COGNIZANCE SYMBOL "I" PRINTED MATERIAL<br />

a. Cognizance Symbol 1I.<br />

Cognizance symbol 1I material, consisting of printed forms and<br />

placards, is financed by the WCF. Cognizance symbol 1I items are<br />

charged to the user in the same manner as other WCF material.<br />
