She was born Oct. 13, 1759, and married, as his second wife,<br />

Lieut. John Holmes, eldest son of Nathaniel and Elizabeth<br />

(Moore)^ Holmes, of Londonderrjs N. H. He succeeded to<br />

the home farm in Derry Lower Village. He was born in<br />

i747, and died Nov. 2, 1794. She died April 28, 1809. His<br />

first wife was hi^ own cousin, Martha, daughter of Col. Robert<br />

Moore. (See p. 77.) She died Sept. 5, 1778, leaving a son<br />

who died young, and a daughter, Molly Holmes, who married<br />

64. Martha Holmes,* b. in 1781; d. Dec. 2.5, 1834, aged 53 years; m.,<br />

about 1798, Col. William Moore » (Col. Daniel Moore, = of Bedford,<br />

N. H.), who was first cousin of her father on the Moore<br />

side. He ci. March 2.5, 1839, and was b. in Bedford, Sept. 12,<br />

1773. He and his first wife were married at Bedford Centi-e,<br />

N. H. He was a brick manufactui-er in Bedford; was a farmer<br />

and a colonel in the militia; selectman in 1833 and 1835, representative<br />

in 1832 and 1833. He m., second, Susan, ^fta^bt©*'of<br />

Thomas Wallace, of Goffstown, in May, 1835. She d. at<br />

Henniker, Feb. 14, 1880, and is buried beside her first husband<br />

at Goffstown, N. H. Their children were,—<br />

1. Daniel Moore,"^ b. Bedford, N. H., Feb. 23, 1801; m., April 1, 1828,<br />

of Litchfield. She was his cousin.<br />

He d. Aug. 13, 1850. She d. Feb. 29, 1840, and he m., second,<br />

April 1, 1841, Sarah Stevens, of New <strong>Boston</strong>, N. H., who d.<br />

Jan. 13, 1855, aged 39 years. They are buried at Bedford Centre,<br />

N. H. He was selectman of Bedford, 1832, 1837, 1838, and<br />

1839. clerk 1835, and clerk of Merrimack, N. H., in 1850, at<br />

time of his death. Children b. Bedford. N. H., except Ervin J.<br />

I. "William Clinton Moore,'' b. Jan. 3, 1829; m., March 25, 1854, Martha<br />

Jane, daughter of William Moore. She was his cousin. He<br />

d. Aug. 16, 1854, aged 25 years, 7 months, 13 days.<br />

II. James Clifton Moore,^ b. April 8, 1830; m., Nov. 16, 1852, Mary A.<br />

Hodgman, of Bedford, N. II. He removed to Scranton, Penn.,<br />

in 1860, and manufactured brick. He enlisted, Feb. 13, 1864,<br />

in the 5th N. Y. Heavy Artillery ;<br />

was taken prisoner, Oct. 19,<br />

1864, at the battle of Cedar Rapids, Va., and d. in Libby Prison,<br />

Richmond, Va,, Dec. 25, 1864. His wife returned to Bedford,<br />

N. H. ; m., second, William H. Gage, who d. July, 1879. Children:<br />

Nashua, N. H. They lived in Nashua, and Wheeling, W. Va.<br />

Res. Cleveland, Ohio. She d. at Cleveland, March 2, 1872.<br />

^ She was the daughter of John i and Janet Moore, who came in 1723-<br />

'24 from county Antrim, Ireland, to Londonderry, N. H.
