ARCHIBALD ALISON, OF PEESTWICK, SCOTLAND. 37<br />

James ^). He was born at Kilwakeiiing, <strong>Scotland</strong>, in 1819.<br />

He was educated at the College of Glasgow, and is a member<br />

of the University Court. He was ordained as minister<br />

of the United Presbyterian church at Kilbarchaii, in Renfrewshire,<br />

in 1842, and there he has had a very long and successful<br />

ministry. At his jubilee in 1891, he was presented by<br />

his congregation with a check for upwards of £400, together<br />

with many other valuable gifts from distant members of this<br />

church. He married Agnes, daughter of William Jamieson,<br />

of Glasgow, <strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />

Michael,^ James ^). He was born at Kil wakening, <strong>Scotland</strong>,<br />

in 1822; married Helen, daughter of William Hamilton, of<br />

Brownside; he married, second, Isabella, daughter of William<br />

Murray, of Fleckfield, East Kilbride, county of Lanark,<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong>. Mr. Alison is proprietor of Blackmoss, a farm,<br />

and a portion of the original farm of Cairnduff, where the<br />

Alisons first settled centuries ago.<br />

James ^). Rev. Archibald Alison was born at Kilwakening,<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong>, in 1825; married, in 1861, Mary, daughter of<br />

Capt. J. H. Robertson, of Leith, <strong>Scotland</strong>. He was educated<br />

in Glasgow college, and is a member of the University<br />

Court. After receiving calls from the congregations of Leslie,<br />

Largo, and Baillieston. he was ordained in 1849 as minister<br />

of the West United Presbvterian church in Leslie. In
