Windyedge. Letliam is composed of three farms— Couplaw^<br />

Hookhead, and Letliam. According to my informant. Rev.<br />

Archibald Alison, of Prestwick, he had the following children<br />

17. Alexander Alison* (34), b. at Letliam, Avondale, county of Lanark,.<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />

18. Thomas Alison* (39), b. at Letliam, <strong>Scotland</strong>, and became laird of<br />

Calderbank.<br />

19. Alison,* b. at Letliam; m. Mr. Currie, of Frynlaw, near<br />

Stratliavon. It has been the home of the Curries for two<br />

centuries.<br />

20. Alison,* b. at Letham ; m. Mr. Tennant, of Strathavon,<br />

<strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />

21. John Alison* went to Fyfeshire, or Forfarshire—the probable ancestor<br />

of Rev. Alexander Alison, D. D., of Seattle, Washington.<br />

22. Alison,* a daughter, who died young.<br />

He was born<br />

at Windyedge, <strong>Scotland</strong>, in 1708 ; went to Foulpopple, London,<br />

Ayrshire, <strong>Scotland</strong>, in 1739, and had three sons and<br />

several daughters.<br />

24. John Alison,* b. at Foulpopple. Children : 1, John Alison,^ b. Hungryhill,<br />

Salston. Is m., but no children. 2, James Alison,^ b.<br />

at Foulpopple in 1804; went to Harperscroft, Dundonald; m.<br />

Annie Cray, of Galston, Ayrshire. Children: William Alison, »<br />

b. at Harperscroft, Parish of Dundonald, Ayrshire, <strong>Scotland</strong>;<br />

m. Mary Smith. Child: Annie Cray<br />

went to Canada. Isabella Alison," m. Reginald Bruce; res.<br />

Langholm, <strong>Scotland</strong>. Annie Alison." Eliza Alison." 3, William<br />

Alison," res. Fairfield, Galston, Ayrshire, <strong>Scotland</strong>; is m.<br />

but has no family.<br />

2.5. James Alison,* born at Muirhead, Avondale. His descendants are<br />

still in Muirhead.<br />

26. Andrew Alison,* of Goslington. His descendants are still there.<br />

born at Windyedge, <strong>Scotland</strong>, in 1710; went to Dykehead,<br />

East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, and had only one son that had<br />

children. East Kilbride is some two miles from Cairnduff<br />

and Windyedge.<br />

28. William Alison,* b. at Dykehead, East Kilbride, near Cairnduff,<br />

Avondale, in 1747. lie resided in Hawbank, East Kilbride,<br />

Lanarksliire, <strong>Scotland</strong>, and d. there, aged 93 years. He ni.<br />

Elizabetli Reed, of Castleton, East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, and<br />

had children: 1, William Alison," m. Janet Findlay, and res.<br />

in Windlaw, parish of Carmunnock, Lanarkshire. Two sons:<br />

William Alison," m. Isabella Dick; res. Turnlaw, parish of East<br />

Kilbride, and is factor for James Campbell, of Strathcarthro.<br />

Thomas Alison" died unmarried. 2, Janet Alison," m. John<br />
