Jolin,^ John,2 Lawrence ^). He was born in Haverstraw, N.<br />

Y., April 6, 1786 ; died there and is buried in Mount Repose<br />

cemetery. He was a farmer and carpenter. His father gave<br />

him the land for his farm and homestead and aided him in<br />

erecting his buildings. He owned another farm at Mead's<br />

corner, about a mile beyond his home on the Ramapo road.<br />

He was very industrious and frugal in his habits, a devout<br />

Christian, upright in all his dealings, and was highlj'" esteemed<br />

as a man, citizen, and friend. He married Jane De Pew,<br />

born Jan. 18, 1787 ; died in Haverstraw. He resided in Haverstraw,<br />

N. Y.<br />

tlien at Newton, Penn. He was a man of superior mental abilities<br />

and high character.<br />

1800. Margaret Allison,' b. Nov. 10, 1820, and d. in middle life. She m.<br />

Spencer Springsteed. They had a daughter who grew to<br />

womanhood. He m. a second wife.
