CHARLES ALLISON, OF SPRINGFIELD, MASS. 207<br />

volunteers, under Capt. John W. More, and shared the fortunes<br />

of the regiment ; was in eighteen engagements. At /<br />

Petersburg, Va., in a charge, June 18, 1864, he was shot<br />

through the right thigh, and a few minutes later a bullet<br />

ploughed its way through his left knee, which ended his<br />

fighting and made him a cripple for life. Weary months<br />

were passed in the hospital at Hampton, Va., but he finally<br />

was carried to his home in Springfield, Mass. He was dis-<br />

charged at Fort Monroe, Va., Nov. 3, 1864. He is past<br />

commander of the E. K. Wilcox Grand Army post of Springfield,<br />

is a Good Templar, and a member of the Masonic fraternity.<br />

He is employed in the United States armory. Resides<br />

at 86 Oak street, Springfield, Mass. No children.<br />

Janette Elnora Rice, b. Providence, R. I., Jan. 3, 1S61; m., Oct. 6. 1878,<br />

Henri E. Jones of Springiield, Mass., who was b. in New Haven,<br />

Ct, Aug. 17, 18.58. No children. He is a bookbinder. Res.<br />

New York, N. T.
