735j. William Henry Harrison Allison," b. Nov. 18, 1842, in Cooper<br />

count3% Mo.; m., April 18, 1873, Mae Amanda Williams,<br />

daughter of (Samuel K. Williams, of Fairfield county, Ohio,<br />

and McDonald county, 3Io., who died Feb., 1886. She was<br />

born Aug. 2, 1852, in Lancaster, Fairfield county, Ohio. Mr.<br />

Allison was educated in the common schools and two years in<br />

an academy. Was a teacher, then a lawyer. He was assistant<br />

United States marshal for taking the Jiinth census in the north<br />

half of Cooper county, Mo. He was deputy assessor and deputy<br />

collector in the same county in 1868- (59. Justice of the<br />

peace for four years, and in Nov., 1870, was elected superintendent<br />

of registration of voters for Cooper county on the Republican<br />

ticket, but did not qualify. He went to Neosho,<br />

Newton county, Mo., in Aug., 1871, and practised law. Went<br />

to Colorado in 1876, and engaged in business, as the state of<br />

liis health demanded active life. He removed to New Mexico<br />

in 1870, which is now his home, and is in business. He served<br />

in the home guard, in Col. Parker's 735k.<br />

regiment, in the fall of<br />

1864, at Sedalia, Mo., and thinks that "treason should be<br />

made odious." He voted for Lincoln in 1864. He is a Rejiublican<br />

in iJolitics, a Methodist in religion. Has served as superintendent<br />

of Sabbath scliool, and class leader. Residence,<br />

Albuquerque, New Mexico. Children :<br />

Printer and teacher. He served a year in the 2Sth Regiment<br />

Illinois Volunteers in the late war. He enlisted March 13,<br />

1865; was discharged March 13, 1866. He has the degrees of<br />

A. B. and A. M. He is one of the publishers of the Colum-<br />

bus Star-Courier. Resides Columbus, Kansas. Is a Democrat<br />

in politics. He married, November, 1868, Nannie, daughter<br />

of Guinn and Artamasia (Ellison) Morton. Her father was<br />

a native of Kentucky. She was born in Cooper county, Mo.,<br />

May 16, 1848; died iii Bolivar, Mo., Nov. 20, 1879. He married,<br />

second, Mrs. ]N annette (Martin) Cook, daughter of James Martin,<br />

a native of Poughkeepsie, N. Y., a resident of St. Louis,<br />

Mo., and his wife, Anna Mayfield (Waton) Martin. Mrs. Allison<br />

was born in Cole county. Mo., Oct. 2, 1845. Resided in<br />

Clinton, Mo., and now in Columbus, Kan. Children:<br />
