He was born at Bethany Church, N. C, June 28, 1816. He<br />

owned and lived upon the homestead of his father at<br />

Bethany Church, or Turnersburg, N. C, and was a farmer,<br />

who also carried on the tanning business. He married Elizabeth<br />

B. Johnston, and died at Turnersburg, N. C, Jane 20,<br />

1870.<br />

Robert 1). He was born in Charlotte, Mecklenburgh county,<br />

N. C, April 24, 1809 ; married, May 31, 1842, Sarah Ann<br />

Phifer of Cabarrus county, N. C; resided at Concord, N. C.<br />

In 1823, Mr. Allison left Charlotte, N. C, his native place,<br />

and entered the store of his uncle, Joseph Young, in Concord,<br />

N. C, where he ever afterwards lived. He was a farmer and<br />

merchant, and filled public positions of trust and importance.<br />

He was a delegate to the state constitutional convention, a<br />

member of the state legislature, clerk and master of the court<br />

of equity for a number of years, a justice of the peace, and<br />

chairman of the board of county commissioners, which position<br />

he held in 1878. Like most of the Allisons he was a<br />

Presbyterian —an elder in that church. His wife was a<br />

daughter of a prominent citizen of Mecklenburgh county. In
