aged eighty-two years. He lived on the farm on which he<br />

was born till he was seventy years of age, when he moved to<br />

Indiana, the county seat of Indiana county, Penn., where he<br />

513. Mr. Allison, of Scotch blood, lived in a double cabin<br />

some three miles from Londonderry, Ireland. He had relatives<br />

of the name of Knox and Mclllvaine, who lived there<br />

in 1867. He had several children. Among them were three<br />

daughters, names not known to the compiler, who lived and<br />

died in Ireland.<br />

514. His son, Joseph Allison,^ lived at the old home near<br />

Londonderr}^ Ireland, and died there about 187Q.<br />

515. William Allison,^ another son, emigrated to Amer-<br />

ica when eighteen years of age ; lauded at Wilmington, Del.,<br />

and immediately joined his relatives by name of Mac Beth,<br />

or MacBeg, near Harrisburg, Penn. He had no known Allison<br />

connections in this country. He became a successful<br />

hardware merchant in Harrisburg, where he spent the active<br />

years of his life. He finally joined his son, Judge Joseph<br />

Allison,^ in Philadelphia, and lived the life of a retired business<br />

man, and died there. He married, in Harrisburg, Penn.,<br />

Mary Andrews, who when a child was brought to this<br />

countr}' from Armagh, Ireland, by her parents. She died in<br />

Harrisburg<br />

about 1818. She had a sister who married Mr.<br />

Irwin, of Scotch blood, and they lived in Winchester, Va.,<br />

where she died, and her large family later went to Missouri.<br />

Her brother, in early life, settled in the city of New York.<br />

William Allison^ had six sons and one daughter, all deceased<br />

except Judge Allison, of Philadelphia. Among them were :<br />

510. Robert Henderson Allison,^ a physician, who died<br />

about 1855, in Charleston, Coles county, Illinois.<br />

517. James Irwin Allison^ was for many years a magistrate<br />

in Philadelphia, Penn.<br />

518. Arthur David Allison^ was a merchant in Philadelphia,<br />

Penn.<br />

519. Joseph Allison,'^ born August 31, 1819 ; named for<br />

his uncle. He studied law in Harrisburg, Penn. ; admitted<br />

to the bar of Dauphin county in 1813 ; elected solicitor of
