Mass., where the larger part of his time was spent. At one<br />

time he was in business in Faueuil Hall market, nnder the<br />

firm name of Porter & Allison. He was one of the leading<br />

business men of Newton, and was located in the provision<br />

business, on the spot now occupied by the Union Market<br />

National Bank, under the firm name of Allison & Bond.<br />

He w^as one of the directors of the Union Market National<br />

Bank for three years. He was a devoted member of the Congregational<br />

church, and by his courteous manners and upright<br />

Christian life won the confidence and love of many.<br />

He died at his home on California street, Newton, Mass.,<br />

May 1, 1881, aged 5-4 years.<br />

Alma Graves, of Ludlow, Vt., b. Ascutneyville, Vt., Dec. 1.5,<br />

1867. He was educated in the grammar and high schools of<br />

Newton, Mass., and received his musical education under<br />

teachers of note in <strong>Boston</strong>, Mass., and now devotes all his time<br />

to instruction in music. He is organist at the First Universalist<br />

church in Roxbury, Mass., and is a member of the Congre-<br />

gational church in Newtonville; res. 201 California ave., Newton,<br />

Mass.<br />

367. James Stockman Allison, Jr., « b. Feb. 19,1870; d. Aug. 19, 1872,<br />

aged 2 years, 6 months.<br />

368. Clinton James Allison^ [227] (Samuel,* James,^<br />

Capt. Samuel,^ SamueP). He was born in Weathersfield,<br />

Vt., April 2-1:, 1824. When thirteen years of age, he went<br />

with his parents to Conneaut, Ohio, where he lived eight<br />

years ; was in Indiana fourteen years ; resides at Olney, 111.,<br />

and has resided there for thirty-one years. Manufacturer<br />

and farmer. He married, May 22, 1850, Hannah, daughter<br />

of Samuel and Chloe (Prather) Campbell. Her father was a<br />

native of Pennsylvania, born in 1775, removed with his<br />

father to Kentucky in 1784, and settled near Lexington, and<br />

removed to Jenning Co., Indiana, in 1816, and died there in<br />

1856. She was born in Queensville, Ind., Nov. 29, 1830, and<br />

died in Jonesville, Ind., Dec. 25, 1855. He married, second,<br />

Nov. 25, 1858, Mrs. Sarah D. Webster, widow of Edward Webster,<br />

and daughter of Barnes Hubbard, of Massachusetts,<br />

who died in Conneaut, Ohio. She was born in Conneaut,<br />

June 29, 1824, and died in Olney, 111., May 14, 1883. He<br />

married, third, May 1, 1887, Mary E. Whorf, who was born<br />

at Brownsville, Penn., April 14, 1847. She was the daughter<br />
