N. J., and is connected with the N. Y. Tribune, being at the<br />

head of the proof-reading depai-tment. In early life he was<br />

for several years in the office of the Peterborough, N. H.,<br />

He was born in Dunbarton, N. H., March 23, 1776, and died<br />

in Peterborough, N. H., Aug. 13, 1864, aged 88 years, 4<br />

months. He married Rachel Ladd, of Dunbarton, in 1805,<br />

who was born June 9, 1780, and died Sept. 3, 1824, aged<br />

44 years. He married, second, Abigail Perry, of Rindge,<br />

N. H., who was born May 15, 1791, and died at Sioux City,<br />

Iowa, Feb. 13, 1873, aged 81 years, 8 months.<br />

Mr. Allison located in Peterborough, Sept. 25, 1801, where<br />

he spent the remainder of his life. He was a wood workman<br />

and turner, and for a long time was in the employ of<br />

the proprietors of the factories in that town. As a man, he<br />

was honest, upright, and respected.
