Springfield, Vt., and with his brothers Samuel and John, and<br />

brother-in-law, Daniel Adams, engaged in the manufacture of<br />

cotton for some years. After living in the state of New York,<br />

he removed to i3uchanan, Mich., in 184(), where he bought a<br />

tract of land and made a farm. He d. there JNIay 23, 1869. He<br />

was a man of clear intelligence, fond of reading, and a noted<br />

free thinker. She d. tliere Jan. 25, 1876. Children:<br />
