(Moore) Holmes, of Londonderry (their second child), married<br />

Abraham Morison, and was born about 1746.<br />

They quitclaimed, in a deed, all interest in the estate of<br />

her "-honored father, Nathaniel Holmes, deceased," to his<br />

eldest son, Lieut. John Holmes, who bought out all the heirs,<br />

and succeeded to the home farm. Date May 13, 1771,<br />

acknowledged and recorded in 1776 (Book 107, p. 398 of<br />

County Records). They had a son, Nathaniel^ named for<br />

her father.<br />

She was born at Londonderry, N. H., April 1, 1762, and married,<br />

in 1785, Nathaniel Holmes,^ of Peterborough, N. H., son<br />

of Nathaniel and Elizabeth (Moore) Holmes,'^ of Londonderry,<br />

grandson of Nathaniel and Jane (Hunter) Holmes,^ of<br />

Coleraine, Ireland. This Nathaniel Holmes,^ after the death<br />

of his wife in Ireland, emigrated in 1740 to the Scotch settlement<br />

in Londonderry, N. H., where so many of his Scotch<br />

neighbors and kindred had gone before, being accompanied<br />

by his four sons, Nathaniel,^ John,^ William,^ and Andrew<br />

Holmes.^ Traditions say that he left his eldest son, Nathaniel<br />

Holmes,^ in Londonderry, while he and his other- three<br />

sons (who were then minors) went to Carlisle, Penn., and<br />

settled, and where he probably died. The three sous lived<br />

and had families at Carlisle, Penn.<br />

Dea. Nathaniel Holmes was born at Londonderry, N. H.,<br />

Sept. 5, 1759, and died at Peterborough, N. H., Sept. 10,<br />

1832.<br />
