Illinois Institute of Technology ROTC: Military Science The principal objective of the college-level Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (ROTC) program is to develop commissioned officers for the Active Army, the Army National Guard, and U.S. Army Reserve. ROTC: Military Science Instruction is offered through either a four-year or two-year program. The four-year program consists of the Basic Course (freshman and sophomore years) and the Advanced Course (junior and senior years). The two-year Advanced Course is open to students eligible for advanced placement through a variety of options. Both programs include attendance at Camp Adventure (a six-week advanced summer camp) just prior to commissioning.
