Undergraduate Admission<br />
Obtaining Freshman Application<br />
Freshman applicants must submit a completed application,<br />
application fee or fee waiver, transcripts <strong>of</strong> all high schools<br />
attended, transcripts from all colleges attended (when<br />
applicable), standardized test scores, and a letter <strong>of</strong> recommendation.<br />
The freshman application may be obtained by<br />
contacting the Office <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate Admission or from<br />
the following on-line sources:<br />
Standardized Test Scores for Freshman Applicants<br />
All students are requited to submit scores from either the<br />
College Entrance Examination Board’s Scholastic Aptitude<br />
Test (SAT1) or The American College Test (ACT). The tests<br />
may be taken at any time, but preferably by the December<br />

*International students should request the International Student Application.<br />
admission to the spring semester must have taken the SAT1<br />
or ACT by the preceding November. IIT recommends<br />
SAT2 tests in math and science, but does not requite SAT2<br />
test scores for admission or scholarship applications.<br />
Graduates from an accredited high school applying for Required Recommended<br />
admission must present evidence that they have completed a English 4 years<br />
minimum <strong>of</strong> 16 units <strong>of</strong> high school work. Most admitted Mathematics 4 years * Calculus<br />
students exceed this minimum. A unit may be defined Laboratory Science 2 years ** 3 years<br />
broadly as the study <strong>of</strong> a major subject for one academic<br />
year in high school. * Material should include depth in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, analytic<br />
geometry and pre-calculus skills.<br />

Transfer <strong>of</strong> College-Level Credit for Freshman Applicants<br />
IIT recognizes the CEEB Advanced Placement Program and<br />
encourages student to take A.P. examinations and have the<br />
scores sent to the IIT Office <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate Admission.<br />
International Baccalaureate Program<br />
Acceptable credit and placement varies by subject. IIT will<br />
accept scores <strong>of</strong> 4 and 5, and, in some cases, scores <strong>of</strong> 3.<br />
Students holding an International Baccalaureate (LB.) credit for each HL exam can be awarded. No credit is<br />
diploma or who have successfully completed I.B. examina- granted for work completed at the subsidiary level (SL).<br />

College Coursework<br />
IIT will accept college coursework taken while still in high<br />
school from other accredited universities and colleges, provided<br />
that the courses are comparable in nature, content and level to<br />
those <strong>of</strong>fered at IIT. Grades must be equivalent to a “C” or<br />
higher. Grades <strong>of</strong> “C-” are not acceptable for transfer credit. A<br />

maximum <strong>of</strong> 36 semester hours will be accepted. Transcripts <strong>of</strong><br />
all college work are requited to be submitted as part <strong>of</strong> the<br />
application for admission to the Office <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate<br />
Admission, regardless <strong>of</strong> the transferability <strong>of</strong> credits.
