Special Programs<br />
Depending upon their interest, capabilities, and goals, and students may design their own double undergraduate degree<br />
with the permission <strong>of</strong> their advisers and department chairs, programs or select one <strong>of</strong> the options listed below.<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Chemical Engineering/Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Environmental Engineering<br />
This 4.5-year program is designed to train students to be <strong>of</strong> environmental issues and their assessment. For a full<br />
knowledgeable in the fundamental principles <strong>of</strong> chemical engi- description <strong>of</strong> the program, see page 58 in the departmental<br />
neering science and design and to have a clear understanding curricula section <strong>of</strong> this bulletin.<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Computer Engineering/Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Electrical Engineering<br />
Students interested in obtaining two undergraduate degrees<br />
in four years should consult an Department <strong>of</strong> Electrical and<br />
Computer Engineering adviser. This program is particularly<br />
applicable for freshman entering IIT with advanced placement<br />
credits.<br />
Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Mechanical Engineering/Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Science in Aerospace Engineering<br />
Students interested in this program should consult an adviser<br />
from the Department <strong>of</strong> Mechanical, Materials and<br />
Aerospace Engineering.<br />
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Options<br />
IIT’s double-degree options allow students to earn two degrees<br />
in as few as five years. The university has created bachelor’s<br />
degree/master’s degree options in fields in demand in pr<strong>of</strong>essions<br />
where graduate training is essential.<br />
Students may enter some undergraduate/graduate doubledegree<br />
programs either through the honors track or the<br />
standard track. Through the honors track, exceptional<br />
students may be admitted simultaneously into both the<br />
undergraduate and graduate schools when they apply to IIT.<br />
Admission will be based on their high school records, including<br />
grades, test scores, faculty/employer recommendation, and<br />
other documentation. Through the standard track, students<br />
are admitted into the undergraduate department <strong>of</strong>fering the<br />
bachelor’s portion <strong>of</strong> the program.<br />
