If you can imagine it, you will probably find it at the SEMA Show
or at the nearby AAPEX Show. Way too big for just the enormous
Las Vegas Convention Center, these shows take over huge spaces
inside and outside of venues all over Las Vegas. Needless to say, a
few short days is not nearly enough to see and experience everything,
so you basically need to just make a rough plan, pick a place to begin
and see what you can see.
Let’s begin with the awesome entertainment. After the exhibit
halls close for the day, that is when the fun really begins. Las Vegas
knows how to throw great parties, but there’s more. If your interests
lean towards insane motorsports action, there was drifting and
all-out, professional rallying, as the Global Rallycross series finale
joined the big show. It filled a huge parking lot near the Las Vegas
Convention Center with dirt, grandstands, a huge jump, spectators
and breathtaking thrills. Full-on, professional rally cars literally
flew through the air, passing over other rally cars, as Tanner Faust
(of Top Gear USA) defeated rallying greats including Ken Block,

each other.

well, we’ll do it again.
Next on the agenda for AutoMatters is a trip to Austin,
Texas to cover the inaugural Formula 1 race weekend (Nov.
16 – 18), including not only Formula 1 but also Ferrari
Challenge and Pirelli GT3 Cup racing, at the brand new
Circuit of the Americas. You’ll hear all about it, and see
some photos too, when I return.
