such as used tire sales and tire aging,
perhaps avoid regulation all together.
Groh officially took over leadership
of TIA during the general meeting,
and now past-president Larry Brandt
recounted the success of the past year
at Monday evening’s Tire Industry
Honors event.
Brandt pointed to TIA’s increased
emphasis on member and technician
training—the nationwide training tour,
the new online “university,” new Spanish-language
courses, and the develop-
ment of new training programs. In
addition, Brandt said his key goal of
maintaining the transformation of the
association, begun under past president
Mike Berra Jr., was met and that TIA
is now financially and operationally
stronger than ever.
Under Groh the traveling training
effort will continue in 2013, and will
expand to reach consumers. With a new
association tagline—Tire Safety Starts
Here—TIA plans to expand outreach
to drivers with a series of tire maintenance
videos.
