relationship with<br />
the RMA, and has<br />
set his sights on<br />
two major industry issues as potential<br />
building blocks.<br />
During TIA’s annual general meeting<br />
Monday in Las Vegas, Groh said that<br />
TIA will work to put forth a “recommended<br />
practice” regarding how tire<br />
dealers should handle the “tire aging<br />
issue,” and plans to help develop guidelines<br />
on the safe sale of used tires.<br />

Toward both goals, which he indicated<br />
would be completed by the close<br />
of his term as president, Groh said TIA<br />
will work directly with RMA officials<br />
and board members to craft positions<br />
that both organizations can support.<br />
It marked the first time TIA specifically<br />
stated that it would tackle either<br />
controversial topic, both of which have<br />
been of concern for many years.<br />
Groh said that while TIA would<br />
prefer “to educate, not legislate,” it<br />
recognizes that the industry would be<br />
better served if it and the RMA took<br />
a leadership role in creating legislation<br />
regarding proper tire repairs. And, by<br />

Election Results<br />
The votes are in and the winners<br />
determined for the six open seats on<br />
the TIA Board of Directors.<br />
Each spot comes with a three-year<br />
term. Roy Littlefield, TIA executive<br />
vice president, noted that, “This election<br />
year had the highest number of<br />
candidates in TIA’s recent history, with<br />
23 vying for the board positions. We<br />
are very appreciative to all the candidates<br />
for putting forth their names and<br />
to the retiring board members for the<br />
years of dedication and leadership to<br />
our industry.”<br />
