WDear Friends, 2 | 2012 MARIST ANNUAL NEWSLETTER Welcome to the 2012 edition of our Development Newsletter and Honor Roll of Donors! Over the course of the last year, the Marist Brothers have been celebrating 125 years of ministry in the United States. The Development Office has also been celebrating this milestone! “Celebrating 125 Years” was the theme of this past year’s Annual Fund and we inaugurated our new Marist Tree of Knowledge. The fact that the Marist Brothers have been able to effectively bring Christian education to youth, especially those most neglected, is a testament to the faith and commitment of many generations of “Marists,” both Brothers and Lay Marists, working together. We continue to rely on the kindness and generosity of our friends, family and alumni to work together with us to assist in furthering this mission to new generations of young men and women. Your support has, and will continue to keep the important presence of our Brothers in our educational institutions and ministries as well as enable us to provide for our elderly and disabled Brothers. Your financial support also allows us to expand our vocation awareness program to reach more young men contemplating religious life. We sincerely appreciate your generosity. In keeping with our tradition, we proudly include our annual Honor Roll of Donors. This is a compilation of all our donors who have so generously supported the Brothers over the course of our last fiscal year (June 1, 2011 − May 31, 2012). We have been blessed during these difficult financial times with loyal and generous benefactors. Your gifts, no matter the size, have made a difference in the lives of our Brothers and in our ministries. To each and every one of you, we express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude. LaValla League Each year in a spirit of gratitude and recognition we welcome new members to the LaValla League, in appreciation of their ten consecutive years of giving to the Marist Brothers Annual Fund appeal. We chose the name “LaValla,” for LaValla was the name of the village in southern France where the Marist Brothers began in 1817. “LaValla” embodies the sentiments of allegiance and of beginnings. In gratitude for their kindness and generosity, each new member has received a unique, commemorative pewter medallion of St. Marcellin Champagnat encased in lucite.
