Ogilvie <strong>of</strong> Boyne, son <strong>of</strong> the first Sir Walter Ogilvie <strong>of</strong> Boyne, and is infefr in the<br />

thanedom <strong>of</strong> Boyne, 1524. Of him was descended Sir Patrick Ogilvie <strong>of</strong> Boyne,<br />

one <strong>of</strong> the Senators <strong>of</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Justice. Their arms are, quarterly, first and<br />

fourth Ogilvie, second and third argent, three crescents gules, for Edmonstone ;<br />

over all dividing the quarters, a cross ingrailed sable , for Sinclair <strong>of</strong> Deskford, as<br />

a younger son <strong>of</strong> Ogilvie <strong>of</strong> Deskford, who married the heiress ; crest, a right hand<br />

holding a sword, proper : motto, Pro patria.<br />

OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Inchmartin, descended <strong>of</strong> a younger son <strong>of</strong> Sir Walter Ogilvie <strong>of</strong><br />

Lintrathan, argent, a lion passant g ardant gules, crowned or, on his breast a star<br />

<strong>of</strong> the first. This family is now incorporate in the house <strong>of</strong> Findlater, by marry-<br />

WALTER OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Ragel, descended <strong>of</strong> a second son <strong>of</strong> Boyne, carries the<br />

OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Carnousie, the same with Dunlugas, as before, with a crescent for<br />

Sir GEORGE OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Barras, Baronet, argent, a lion passant gardant gules,<br />

gorged with an open crown, and crowned with an imperial one, proper, holding<br />

in his dexter paw a sword, proper, defending the thistle (placed in the dexter<br />

chief point) vert, ensigned with a crown or, with the badge <strong>of</strong> Knight-Baronet,<br />

by way <strong>of</strong> canton in the sinister chief point ; crest, a demi-man in armour,<br />

hand ; with<br />

holding forth his right the motto, Preeclarum regi y regno servitium.<br />

Sir George Ogilvie got the lands <strong>of</strong> Barras by marrying Elizabeth Douglas,<br />

daughter and heir <strong>of</strong> William Douglas <strong>of</strong> Barras, descended <strong>of</strong> a younger brother <strong>of</strong><br />

the Earl <strong>of</strong> : Angus This Sir George Ogilvie was intrusted by William Earl<br />

Marischal, in keeping his castle <strong>of</strong> Dunotter, in which were lodged the crown,<br />

sword and sceptre, the regalia <strong>of</strong> Scotland, which he and his lady carefully preserved<br />

from the English, who forced him to surrender the castle, but missing the<br />

regalia, they kepf him and his ladyTn a long imprisonment,<br />

<strong>of</strong> which she died:<br />

Upon the Restoration <strong>of</strong> King Charles II. Sir George Ogilvie delivered the regalia<br />

to the Earl Marischal entire ; for which good service, King Charles honoured<br />

.him. with the title <strong>of</strong> Knight-Baronet, in the year 1661, and allowed the thistle,<br />

the badge <strong>of</strong> the kingdom, to be carried in^his arms, and changed the holding <strong>of</strong><br />

his lands from ward to blanch, as his charter bears, for the foresaid piece <strong>of</strong> good<br />

service.<br />

Mr JAMES OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Clunie, descended <strong>of</strong> a third son <strong>of</strong> Airly, carries the Earl<br />

<strong>of</strong> Airly's arms, within a bordure ingrailed gules ; crest, a bull issuant sable out <strong>of</strong><br />

the wreath, collared with a garland <strong>of</strong> roses, proper. Lyon Register.<br />

JAMES OGILVIE <strong>of</strong> Inchewen, descended <strong>of</strong> Clova, a younger son <strong>of</strong> the Earl <strong>of</strong><br />
