The surname <strong>of</strong> Y\ 'IGMURE or WUJMER, argent, a bend sable, charged with another<br />

waved <strong>of</strong> the field. As in Workman's Manuscript.<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> LEGGHT, azure, on a bend argent, tliree mens' hearts gules,<br />

and on a chief <strong>of</strong> the second, as many martlets sable. Font's Manuscript. And<br />

there also,<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> LEITCH, gules, on a bend three escutcheons azure.<br />

ingrailed or, betwixt six fusils <strong>of</strong> the<br />

I shall add here some blazons with, a bend between, accompanied or cotoyed<br />

with figures.<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> CHEYNE, says Sir James Balfour, in the year 1290, carried as<br />

now, azure, a bend argent, between six cross patees fitched <strong>of</strong> the last ;<br />

I have seen<br />

a charter <strong>of</strong> Reynold Cheyne, son <strong>of</strong> Reynold, who was son <strong>of</strong> another Reynold<br />

Cheyne, <strong>of</strong> the lands <strong>of</strong> Durie in Fife, to Gilbert, son to Robert <strong>of</strong> Strathern ;<br />

which charter was confirmed by Adam de Kilconhaugb Earl <strong>of</strong> Carrick, in the reign<br />

<strong>of</strong> Alexander III. King Robert the Bruce gives a charter to Sir Reginald Cheyne,<br />

<strong>of</strong> the barony <strong>of</strong> Dunumainie, which formerly belonged to Roger Mowbray. And<br />

so much for the antiquity <strong>of</strong> the name.<br />

CHEYNE <strong>of</strong> Straithloch, azure, a bend argent, betwixt six cross patees fitched or.<br />

As in Font's Manuscript. And there also,<br />

CHEYNE <strong>of</strong> Esselmont, quarterly, first and last azure, a bend argent,<br />

between six<br />

cross patees fitched or, for the name <strong>of</strong> Cheyne ; second and third argent, an<br />

episcopal pale salAe, between three laurel leaves vert,, for the name <strong>of</strong> Marshall <strong>of</strong><br />

Esselmont, (but in the blazon <strong>of</strong> the Lyon Register, the episcopal pale is left out ;)<br />

crest, a cross patee fitched argent ;<br />

and for motto, Patientia vincit.<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> COLLESS, azure, on a bend or, betwixt three cross croslets fitched<br />

<strong>of</strong> the last, as many mascles gules ; Andrew Colless, merchant in Aberdeen,<br />

gets a charter <strong>of</strong> the barony <strong>of</strong> Kelly, from Robert Lord Marr, 1404.<br />

COLLESS <strong>of</strong> Balnamoon, argent, a cross moline, between two mascles in chief<br />

gules, and a boar's head erased in base sable ; Font's Manuscript : and there also,<br />

COLLISON, argent, on a fesse azure, between three roses gules, a sword <strong>of</strong> the first,<br />

hiked and pommelled or.<br />

ROBERT COLLISON, Gentleman in His Majesty's guards <strong>of</strong> horse, descended <strong>of</strong><br />

the family <strong>of</strong> Collison <strong>of</strong> Auchinloumes, argent, on a fesse azure, betwixt three<br />

roses in chief gules, and as many peasecods in base vert; a sword bar-ways <strong>of</strong> the<br />

first, hiked and pommelled or; crest, a falcon's head erased, proper: motto, Hoc<br />

virtutis<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> CRAMOND, argent, a bend gules ; faliterj argent, three hearts<br />

CRAMOND <strong>of</strong> Auldbar, azure, a bend or, between three pelicans feeding their<br />

young argent ; some place the pelicans on the bend. I find one Hugb de Cramand<br />

mentioned by King Robert the Bruce, in his charter to the monks <strong>of</strong> Jedworth.<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> MASON, argent, a. bend waved azure, betwixt two mullets in<br />

chief, and a flower-de-luce in base gules. Font's Manuscript.<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> CANT, argent, a bend ingrailed betwixt two crescents sable.<br />

LUDOVICK. CANT <strong>of</strong> Dryburnford in East-Lothian, argent, a bend ingrailed betwixt<br />

a crescent and a star <strong>of</strong> eight points, or rays, in chief, and a mullet in base<br />

sable; crest, a dove, proper: motto, Alis reposita. In the Lyon Register; and<br />

there also,<br />

with a fox current in<br />

The surname <strong>of</strong> WYLLIE, azure, a bend accompanied<br />

chief, and two mullets in base argent, by Thomas Wyllie merchant in Edinburgh.<br />

MAXTON <strong>of</strong> Cultequhay, or, a bend gules, (some books have it a cheveron) between<br />

three cross formees fitched azure. I have seen the seal <strong>of</strong> arms <strong>of</strong> Robert<br />

Maxton <strong>of</strong> Cultequhay, appended to his discharge to Sir Alexander Murray <strong>of</strong>
