Optimass
Application Note
This customer, Tovarna Sladkorja Ormoz, is a sugar producer in Slovenia.
They use lime milk as a flocculent and require the concentration of lime milk to be
constant. In order to achieve this they purchased an Optimass T 50 with the
Baumé concentration option.
Due to the abrasive nature of lime milk, transition pieces were installed. As the
Optimass T 50 meter is measuring at the upper velocity limit (6 m/s) for abrasive
applications, after three months' operation the KROHNE agents in Slovenia made a
resistance check and removed the instrument to see if any damage on the transition
piece or instrument had occurred. More than 47,000 tons of lime milk had passed
through the instrument but there was no trace of wear, either on the transition piece
or on the instrument.
The customer was very satisfied with the measurement.
