The college is supported by the State and is administered by the<br />
Board of Trustees of <strong>Cornell</strong> <strong>University</strong> through the agency of the<br />
State College Council, a body whose composition is described<br />
on pages 10 and 13. With respect to all academic interests the col<br />
lege is an integral part of the <strong>University</strong>.<br />
The Flower Library, a special collection which Roswell P. Flower<br />
founded in 1897 with a gift of five thousand dollars and which Mrs.<br />
Flower afterward endowed with a gift of ten thousand dollars, belongs<br />
to the Veterinary College. This collection comprises about six thou<br />
sand volumes and it is generously supplemented by the loan of<br />
books and periodicals from the <strong>University</strong> Library.<br />
The college occupies a group of five large and several smaller<br />
buildings situated near the center of the <strong>University</strong> campus, besides<br />
an outlying experiment station and farm. The main building is named<br />
James Law Hall in honor of the late James Law, F.R.C.V.S., the<br />
Professor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery at <strong>Cornell</strong> <strong>University</strong><br />
from 1868 till 1908 and the first director of the college.<br />

Candidates for admission as students should consult the Announcement of the<br />
College of Agriculture, which the Secretary of the <strong>University</strong> will send free upon<br />
request.<br />
The College of Agriculture offers a four-year course leading to the<br />
degree of Bachelor of Science (B.S.). Some of the departments of<br />
the college, as a part of their instruction, offer specialized courses of<br />
study designed to fit students for professional or vocational careers in<br />
special fields. Such departments are those of Forestry and Rural<br />
Education. The professional course in Forestry requires for its<br />
completion, besides four years of prescribed work leading to the degree<br />
of Bachelor of Science, a year of graduate work leading to the degree<br />
of Master in Forestry.<br />
