5.2.12 Flexural Test<strong>in</strong>g. Specimens with a geometry described <strong>in</strong> ASTM D790 were cut from the<br />

crown, spr<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>e, and <strong>in</strong>vert <strong>of</strong> the retrieved CIPP l<strong>in</strong>er for measur<strong>in</strong>g the l<strong>in</strong>er’s flexural strength and<br />

flexural modulus elasticity. A total <strong>of</strong> 15 specimens were prepared and tested (five from each location).<br />

The sides <strong>of</strong> specimens were smoothed us<strong>in</strong>g a gr<strong>in</strong>der and a table router. The water jet cutter normally<br />

used for specimen preparation could not be used <strong>in</strong> this case as the dimensions <strong>of</strong> the l<strong>in</strong>er cutouts were<br />

too small to hold <strong>in</strong>side the cutt<strong>in</strong>g board. The specimens were marked as shown <strong>in</strong> Figure 5-12. Test<strong>in</strong>g<br />

was performed us<strong>in</strong>g an ADMET eXpart 2611 mach<strong>in</strong>e (Figure 5-13). Table 5-7 lists the dimensions and<br />

moment <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>ertia for each <strong>of</strong> the 15 specimens.<br />

Us<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>formation <strong>in</strong> Table 5-7, the follow<strong>in</strong>g flexural stress and stra<strong>in</strong> graphs for crown samples,<br />

spr<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>e samples, and <strong>in</strong>vert samples were drawn and are shown <strong>in</strong> Figure 5-14.<br />

Peak load, bend<strong>in</strong>g stresses, and deflections were obta<strong>in</strong>ed from the calculated data while the s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

‘MtestW’ was used to calculate the peak shear stress and bend<strong>in</strong>g modulus <strong>of</strong> elasticity values for the<br />

different specimens. These values are given <strong>in</strong> Table 5-8.<br />
