1.2 Organization <strong>of</strong> the Report<br />

Follow<strong>in</strong>g the <strong>in</strong>troduction to the concept and development <strong>of</strong> the retrospective evaluation effort provided<br />

<strong>in</strong> this Section, the ma<strong>in</strong> body <strong>of</strong> the report focuses on CIPP l<strong>in</strong>ers which have been the <strong>in</strong>itial target <strong>of</strong><br />

the retrospective study. Section 2 provides a review <strong>of</strong> the development and use <strong>of</strong> CIPP as a<br />

rehabilitation technology. Section 3 discusses the development <strong>of</strong> the draft evaluation protocol that was<br />

discussed with the two cities that participated <strong>in</strong> this <strong>in</strong>itial study. Sections 4 and 5 provide the detailed<br />

studies carried out on two separate l<strong>in</strong>ers <strong>in</strong> each city. Section 6 compares the results obta<strong>in</strong>ed across the<br />

four l<strong>in</strong>ers and Section 7 discusses the implications <strong>of</strong> the sample retrieval process and test<strong>in</strong>g used <strong>in</strong><br />

these pilot studies on a suitable protocol for wider implementation across the U.S. The results <strong>of</strong> the<br />

<strong>in</strong>ternational scan are reported <strong>in</strong> Section 8 and the overall summary and recommendations for further<br />

work are provided <strong>in</strong> Section 9.<br />
