The utilities commented that the cur<strong>in</strong>g and cool<strong>in</strong>g cycle is the element <strong>of</strong> the process that requires<br />
closest supervision and monitor<strong>in</strong>g. This is because contractors try to save time <strong>in</strong> this stage, and this can<br />
result <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>adequate cur<strong>in</strong>g, lead<strong>in</strong>g to problems <strong>of</strong> service life.<br />
8.5 Verification and Test<strong>in</strong>g<br />
Table 8-8 shows the required frequency <strong>of</strong> post-<strong>in</strong>stallation CCTV surveys, as well as those utilities<br />
utiliz<strong>in</strong>g an I/I test for <strong>in</strong>-situ performance test<strong>in</strong>g. The performance test is generally an <strong>in</strong>-situ<br />
watertightness test to look for exfiltration. However, only two utilities appear to have established a clear<br />
pass/fail criterion for this characteristic. Table 8-9 sets out the mechanical characteristics <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>in</strong>stallation that are tested. Most, but not all <strong>of</strong> the utilities, take samples from the <strong>in</strong>stalled l<strong>in</strong>ers for<br />
test<strong>in</strong>g to verify that the <strong>in</strong>stallation meets the specification requirements.<br />
