Day 1– Arrival
Transfer to Prien at Lake Chiemsee. Take a guided tour of Prien including
a visit to the local history museum and the „Maria Himmelfahrt“ Church,
which is famous for its beautifully painted frescos.
Day 2- The Chiemsee Islands
Departure for an excursion through the beautiful Chiemgau Region. Travel
by coach to the pier and enjoy a short boat journey to the Island of Herrenchiemsee.
Take a guided-tour of Castle “Herrenchiemsee”, built for King
Ludwig II and then visit the museum in the Augustinian Monastery, where
the conference was held to prepare the Constitution of the Federal Republic
of Germany. Continue by boat to the “Fraueninsel”, with a pleasant
stroll to the chapel, campanile and monastery of St. Irmingard. Enjoy
lunch on your own. On the island you can watch old pottery handcrafts
and you will have free time for shopping. Return by boat and coach to your
hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3 – On the trail of Pope
Benedict XVI. Altötting- Marktl
Travel by coach (90 mins) to Altötting and enjoy a guided-tour of this historical
city. Discover how the city has developed throughout the centuries
and learn about the pilgrims for whom Altötting has been an important
pilgrimage for over 500 years. Travel further to Marktl, the birth town of
Pope Benedict XVI. Visit his birthplace and enjoy a short tour of the town.
Possibility for a café stop and then return journey to Prien at Lake Chiemsee.
Enjoy dining together at the hotel for the evening meal.
Day 4 – Excursion to Salzburg
Depart to Salzburg, home city of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Enjoy a guided
tour of Salzburg, where you will visit the birthplace of W. A. Mozart,
the Salzburg Cathedral and St. Peters Abbey. Lunch on your own and
then take advantage of free time for shopping. Return to your hotel for
overnight stay.
Day 5 – Excursion to Innsbruck
and the Swarovski Crystal Worlds
Departure for the excursion to the Swarovski crystal world in Wattens with
free time for shopping. Continue to Innsbruck with time for lunch on your
own. Guided tour of Innsbruck, the Tyrolean capital. Return to your hotel
for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 – Kampenwand Mountain
Travel to Aschau and take a cable car to the top of the Kampenwand
Mountain. Enjoy a short walk with breathtaking panorama views to the
Steinlingalm (traditional alm). Free time on the Kampenwand, followed by
return journey with the cable car to Aschau. Visit the Falconry in Hohenaschau
and then return to the hotel for dinner.
Day 7 – Kehlsteinhaus
(Eagle’s Nest and Lake Königssee)
Depart for Obersalzberg and visit the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle’s Nest) on
top of the Kehlstein Mountain, which was built by the Nazis as a 50th
Birthday present for Hitler. Enjoy spectacular and breathtaking views of
the Bavarian Alps. Travel further to Lake Königsee and make the crossing
to the Church of St. Bartholomew. Return journey to Prien and Bavarian
Evening in the hotel.
