Functions <strong>of</strong> joint advisory committee<br />
67 Functions <strong>of</strong> (the) joint advisory committee<br />
The functions <strong>of</strong> the joint advisory committee are to advise—<br />
(a) the Minister and Director-General on conservation matters<br />
affecting the retained sites; and<br />
(b) the governance entity on conservation matters affecting<br />
Whakapaukorero.<br />
68 Advice on retained sites<br />
(1) The Minister and the Director-General must consult with, and<br />
have regard to the advice <strong>of</strong>, the joint advisory committee in<br />
relation to conservation matters affecting the retained sites.<br />
(2) The Director-General must, in particular, consult with, and<br />
have regard to the advice <strong>of</strong>, the joint advisory committee in<br />
relation to—<br />
(a) the preparation <strong>of</strong> conservation management plans; and<br />
(b) annual planning, including setting <strong>of</strong> annual conservation<br />
priorities.<br />
69 Advice on Whakapaukorero<br />
The governance entity must have regard to, the advice <strong>of</strong> the<br />
joint advisory committee in relation to conservation matters<br />
affecting Whakapaukorero.<br />
Procedures <strong>of</strong> joint advisory committee<br />
70 Meetings <strong>of</strong> committee<br />
(1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, the joint advisory<br />
committee may regulate its own procedure.<br />
(2) Unless all the members <strong>of</strong> the committee agree otherwise,—<br />
(a) members must appoint a chairperson; and<br />
(b) the committee must meet twice a year; and<br />
(c) the chairperson <strong>of</strong> the committee has a casting vote.<br />
71 Vacancy in membership <strong>of</strong> committee<br />
No act or proceeding <strong>of</strong> the joint advisory committee is invalid<br />
merely because <strong>of</strong> a failure <strong>of</strong> the governance entity or the<br />
Director-General to nominate persons as members <strong>of</strong> the<br />
committee.<br />
