Functions of joint advisory committee
67 Functions of (the) joint advisory committee
The functions of the joint advisory committee are to advise—
(a) the Minister and Director-General on conservation matters
affecting the retained sites; and
(b) the governance entity on conservation matters affecting
Whakapaukorero.
68 Advice on retained sites
(1) The Minister and the Director-General must consult with, and
have regard to the advice of, the joint advisory committee in
relation to conservation matters affecting the retained sites.
(2) The Director-General must, in particular, consult with, and
have regard to the advice of, the joint advisory committee in
relation to—
(a) the preparation of conservation management plans; and
(b) annual planning, including setting of annual conservation
priorities.
69 Advice on Whakapaukorero
The governance entity must have regard to, the advice of the
joint advisory committee in relation to conservation matters
affecting Whakapaukorero.
Procedures of joint advisory committee
70 Meetings of committee
(1) Except as otherwise provided in this section, the joint advisory
committee may regulate its own procedure.
(2) Unless all the members of the committee agree otherwise,—
(a) members must appoint a chairperson; and
(b) the committee must meet twice a year; and
(c) the chairperson of the committee has a casting vote.
71 Vacancy in membership of committee
No act or proceeding of the joint advisory committee is invalid
merely because of a failure of the governance entity or the
Director-General to nominate persons as members of the
committee.
