<strong>Claims</strong> <strong>Settlement</strong><br />

Subpart 4—Joint advisory committee for Matata Scenic<br />

Reserve, Whakapaukorero, and Te Awa a Te Atua<br />

64 Interpretation<br />

In this subpart, unless the context otherwise requires,—<br />

joint advisory committee or committee means the committee<br />

appointed in accordance with this subpart<br />

Matata Scenic Reserve means the land shown by the bold<br />

lines on SO 61722, South Auckland Land District<br />

Minister means the Minister <strong>of</strong> Conservation<br />

other claimants means a group <strong>of</strong> individuals, or their governance<br />

entity, who have entered into a deed <strong>of</strong> settlement<br />

with the Crown<br />

retained sites means, to the extent that those sites remain in<br />

Crown ownership,—<br />

(a) Te Awa a Te Atua; and<br />

(b) Matata Scenic Reserve (excluding Whakapaukorero)<br />

Te Awa a Te Atua means the land described by that name in<br />

attachment 5.1 <strong>of</strong> the deed <strong>of</strong> settlement<br />

Whakapaukorero has the same meaning as in section 27.<br />

Membership <strong>of</strong> joint advisory committee<br />

65 Appointment <strong>of</strong> members <strong>of</strong> joint advisory committee<br />

(1) The Minister must appoint the members <strong>of</strong> the joint advisory<br />

committee in accordance with section 66.<br />

(2) Every member <strong>of</strong> the committee is appointed by notice published<br />

in the Gazette.<br />

(3) The notice <strong>of</strong> appointment must specify each member’s term<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

(4) A member takes <strong>of</strong>fice for a term <strong>of</strong> 5 years from the date<br />

specified in the notice <strong>of</strong> appointment and may be<br />

reappointed.<br />

66 Constitution <strong>of</strong> joint advisory committee<br />

The joint advisory committee must consist <strong>of</strong>:<br />

(a) 2 members nominated by the governance entity; and<br />

(b) 2 members nominated by the Director-General.<br />
