Interpretation
11 Interpretation of Act generally
It is the intention of Parliament that the provisions (of) in this
Act are interpreted in a manner that best furthers the agreements
expressed in the deed of settlement.
12 Interpretation
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,—
antiquities protocol means a protocol issued under section 21
by the Minister for Arts, Culture, and Heritage that—
(a) sets out how the Ministry for Culture and Heritage will
interact with the governance entity on the matters specified
in the protocol; and
(b) provides for (Ngāti Tuwharetoa’s) the input of Ngāti
Tuwharetoa (Bay of Plenty) into the processes of the
Ministry in relation to the matters specified in the protocol;
and
(c) is in the form set out in schedule 5.3 of the deed of
settlement
antiquities protocol area means the area shown on the map
attached to the antiquities protocol, together with the adjacent
waters
archaeological site has the meaning given by section 2 of the
Historic Places Act 1993
business day means the period of 9 am to 5 pm on any day of
the week other than—
(a) Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Anzac
Day, the Sovereign’s Birthday, Labour Day, and
Waitangi Day; and
(b) a day in the period commencing with 25 December in a
year and ending with the close of 15 January in the
following year; and
(c) the days observed as the anniversaries of Wellington
and Auckland
