(ii) for a continuing <strong>of</strong>fence, an amount not exceeding<br />

$50 for every day during which the <strong>of</strong>fence<br />

continues.<br />

113 Bylaws<br />

The Minister <strong>of</strong> Conservation may make bylaws for the following<br />

purposes:<br />

(a) to provide for the implementation <strong>of</strong> objectives<br />

included in conservation documents under section 111(1):<br />

(b) to regulate or prohibit activities or conduct by members<br />

<strong>of</strong> the public in relation to the Owhakatihi:<br />

(c) to create <strong>of</strong>fences in respect <strong>of</strong> the contravention <strong>of</strong> any<br />

bylaws made under paragraph (b), and providing for the<br />

imposition <strong>of</strong> fines—<br />

(i) not exceeding $1,000 for those <strong>of</strong>fences; and<br />

(ii) for continuing <strong>of</strong>fences, an amount not exceeding<br />

$50 for every day that during which the <strong>of</strong>fence<br />

continues.<br />

114 Notification <strong>of</strong> actions in Gazette<br />

(1) The Minister <strong>of</strong> Conservation must notify in the Gazette—<br />

(a) the declaration <strong>of</strong> the Owhakatihi; and<br />

(b) any protection principles agreed under section (107) 106,<br />

and any agreed changes to those principles.<br />

(2) The Director-General may, at his or her discretion, notify in<br />

the Gazette any action taken or intended to be taken under any<br />

<strong>of</strong> sections (109) 110 to 112.<br />

(3) The Director-General must notify in the Gazette any action<br />

taken or intended to be taken under section 113.<br />

115 Existing classification <strong>of</strong> Owhakatihi<br />

The purpose or classification <strong>of</strong> an area as a national park,<br />

conservation area, or reserve is not affected by the fact that the<br />

area is, or is in, the Owhakatihi.<br />

116 Termination <strong>of</strong> status<br />

(1) The Governor-General may, by Order in Council made on the<br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> the Minister <strong>of</strong> Conservation, declare that<br />

all or part <strong>of</strong> the Owhakatihi is no longer an Owhakatihi.<br />
