Our Reputation is Tops - Electron Top

Dad always said, "Find a need and
fulfi ll it." In the 1950's and 60's
Dad competed with running fi eld
dogs. During that time he
developed a very durable chap
made out of Naughahyde. He
called them Field Chaps and we
produced and sold them at
Electron Top until 1989. In 1999 we
contemplated making them again
but the material had become too
costly.

Association
gatherings that took
place at Richmond
Hill Auto Top in the
1960’s (L).
In the early years, Dad would attend
Trade Shows representing Electron
Top and Richmond Hill Auto Top.

Dad would organize top installation
demonstrations and Auto Trim Dinners (Below) in
the 1960’s. They were held in the shop at
Richmond Hill Auto Top. Some of the
attendees included such pioneers of our
industry like Nat Danas (L), seated along with
Nelson Butterfi eld (Haartz Auto Fabric), our Dad,
Fred and Ken Richie (Haartz Auto Fabric).
Our sister Linda (1945-2002),
was the eldest of the Strauss
children (below). She
participated in the earlier
building of Electron Top and
accompanied Mom & Dad
at local events. In 1975 she
married, bought a funeral
home and later an embroidery
business in Virginia where she
raised her fi ve girls.
