CITYFEST CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY
This year’s CityFest
marks the 10th annual installment
of the city’s music festival,
and with the ongoing
success of the event, it seems
well on its way to ten more.
CityFest was originally
created in 2003 to celebrate
Alabaster’s 50th birthday.
Since then it’s grown into one
of the area’s most popular
events, drawing huge attendance
numbers and nationally-renowned
musical acts.
Last year, it drew an estimated
60,000 people to Municipal
Park.
"It is hard to believe that
the festival has grown like it
has,” said Adam Moseley, the
president of the Alabaster
Arts Council, the group that
produces CityFest.
According to Moseley, the
event’s success is attributable
to the many people and spon-
sors who invest their time
and money into the event.
“It could not have happened
without the small
group of organizers on the
Arts Council that spend
hundreds of hours each
year to plan this event and
the hundreds of volunteers
that make it happen,” said
Moseley. “In addition, it has
grown like it has thanks to
our wonderful sponsors
that put their investment
into this community.
Without them, we would
not be here.”
Over the years, the
CityFest lineup has featured
everything from popular
country to modern rock and
everything in between. A
few of the more memorable
acts have included the
Fabulous Thunderbirds
(2004), Foghat (2006), the
Whiten Your Teeth and
Help a Child
From March until June, we are offering teeth
whitening services at a reduced
price through Smiles for Life Foundation
100% of the teeth whitening
proceeds go directly to children’s
charities. 50 percent of that payment
will be given to Camp Smile A Mile
www.campsam.org which is a
non-profit organization in Alabama
for children who have or have had
cancer. Year round programs are
provided for the campers and their
family at no cost. The remainder is
given to a children’s charity
approved by Smiles for Life
Foundation. Everybody wins!
Smiles for Life is a children’s charity organization set up through members of the Crown Council,
a prestigious alliance of leading-edge dentists around the world who are strongly committed to
excellence in their fields.

This year’s
CityFest, presented
by Regions, promises
to be the best yet,
with popular bands
Everclear and
Lonestar headlining
the festivities.
“No other festival
in Alabama has this
type of music lineup
as well as a kids’
area, all for free,"
said Moseley. “It
really is a community
effort.”
The 10th annual
Alabaster CityFest
will take place
Saturday, June 2 at
Municipal Park in
Alabaster.
