CPHS COACHING STAFF<br />
Dan Knaga,<br />
Head Coach-Taft<br />
Dan Knaga is entering his 7 th season<br />
with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> Football staff and<br />
his second as head coach at Taft Middle<br />
<strong>School</strong>. Coach Knaga is also an assistant<br />
coach for the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> baseball team<br />
and Taft Middle <strong>School</strong> basketball team. He<br />
is a graduate of <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> High <strong>School</strong><br />
(2001) and Carthage College (B.S. 2005),<br />
where he earned a bachelor’s degree in<br />
history. Coach Knaga is an alternative<br />
classroom teacher at Taft Middle <strong>School</strong>.<br />
Coach Knaga resides in <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong>.<br />
Dan Hadary<br />
Taft Assistant<br />
Dan Hadary is entering his first<br />
year with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> football<br />
staff. Coach Hadary teaches<br />
English and coaches baseball<br />
at <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> High <strong>School</strong>. He<br />
resides in <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong>.<br />
Ernie Huffman,<br />
Wheeler Assistant<br />
Ernie Huffman is entering his 7 th<br />
season with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> football<br />
staff. Coach Huffman comes to<br />
<strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> from Lafayette Central<br />
Catholic High <strong>School</strong>, where he<br />
coached varsity and junior varsity<br />
squads. Coach Huffman teaches<br />
science at Colonel Wheeler Middle<br />
<strong>School</strong>. He and his family reside in<br />
<strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong>.<br />
Steve Polecek,<br />
Wheeler Assistant<br />
Steve Polecek is entering his<br />
2 nd year with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong><br />
football staff. Coach Polecek is<br />
a graduate of <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> High<br />
<strong>School</strong> (2010) where he played<br />
defensive back and is continuing<br />
his education at Ivy Tech<br />
where he is studying physical<br />
therapy. He resides in <strong>Crown</strong><br />
<strong>Point</strong>.<br />

Greg Doane,<br />
Taft Assistant<br />
Greg Doane is beginning his 8th year<br />
with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> football staff. In<br />
addition to coaching football, Coach<br />
Doane has coached volleyball, basketball,<br />
and track. He has taught health at<br />
Taft Middle <strong>School</strong> for the past eleven<br />
years. Coach Doane is a graduate of<br />
Chesterton High <strong>School</strong> (1982) and<br />
Purdue University (B.S. 1986). Greg<br />
resides in Valparaiso with his wife of 23<br />
years, Rhonda, and their sons Jay (18)<br />
and Tyler (16).<br />
Jim Lemon,<br />
Head Coach-Wheeler<br />
Jim Lemon is a graduate of Purdue University<br />
and has been teaching in the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> system for the last 7 years. Jim’s<br />
teaching career has been split between both<br />
Taft M.S. and Col. Wheeler M.S., where he<br />
has taught both 7th and 8th grade social<br />
studies. He started his coaching career<br />
with Taft for 3 years as an assistant coach<br />
and then moved on to Col. Wheeler M.S.<br />
to become the head coach for the last 4<br />
years. Jim lives in Lowell with his wife Brook<br />
and new baby girl Abigail.<br />
Chuck Smoljan,<br />
Taft Assistant<br />
Chuck Smoljan has been teaching<br />
and coaching four different sports<br />
at all levels for 33 years in the<br />
<strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong> <strong>School</strong>s. He has<br />
coached football for 9 of those years.<br />
Currently, Chuck is teaching and<br />
coaching the linemen at Taft Middle<br />
<strong>School</strong>. Chuck and his wife Sherri<br />
live in <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong>. Chuck has two<br />
sons, Scott (29) and Chuck (32).<br />
Eric Boswell,<br />
Wheeler Assistant<br />
Eric Boswell is entering his first<br />
season with the <strong>Crown</strong> <strong>Point</strong><br />
Bulldog staff. Currently, Coach<br />
Boswell is the head wrestling<br />
coach and English teacher<br />
at Colonel Wheeler Middle<br />
<strong>School</strong>.<br />
Stacey Estes,<br />
Assistant Trainer<br />
This is Stacey Estes first year<br />
working with the Bulldogs. Stacey<br />
is a 2008 graduate of Flanagan<br />
High <strong>School</strong> and a 2012<br />
graduate of Western Illinois University<br />
where she earned a BS<br />
in <strong>Athletic</strong> Training. Stacey is a<br />
member of the NATA, GLATA,<br />
and the IATA. Stacey currently<br />
lives in St. John.
