COMMENTS OF<br />

STAR TRIBUNE<br />

The <strong>Star</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong> makes these comments in support <strong>of</strong> the Petition to<br />

Modify Canon 3A(7). These written comments will be the only presentation<br />

made by this newspaper and no oral argument is requested.<br />

An outline <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Star</strong> <strong>Tribune</strong>’s attempts to use expanded coverage under<br />

the experimental rules will be submitted as part <strong>of</strong> the comments <strong>of</strong> the Joint<br />

Media Committee.<br />

In an attempt not to duplicate material submitted by other parties<br />

supporting the petition, these comments will be restricted to the issue <strong>of</strong> the<br />

experience <strong>of</strong> other states with rules similar to those proposed by the<br />

Petitioners.<br />

COMMENTS<br />

A number <strong>of</strong> studies have been done on the issues presented in this<br />

petition. These include: disruption, distraction, the effect on trial<br />
