London’s best kept secret
Osterley House
The streets circling Thornbury Park have a rich and
vibrant past that can still be seen today. From around the
15th Century, Spring Grove was a popular aristocratic
seat and home to world-renowned artists including
Vincent Van Gogh and William Turner.
It would be impossible to describe
Spring Grove without mentioning
two stunning households that
crown the area. To the north, the
famous National Trust gardens of
Osterley House stretch as far as
the eye can see, easily earning the
title as one of the largest open
spaces in west London. A beautiful
manor rests in the heart of the
gardens, providing the setting for
many films including ‘The Duchess’
with Keira Knightley.
In the opposite direction, Syon
Park provides a great day out
for the whole family, situated
just across the river from Kew
Gardens. Home to the Duke of
Northumberland for over 400
years, this fabled estate throws
open its gates during the summer
months for a calendar jam-packed
with exciting events.

now been designated as a
Conservation Area.
