8 1. OVERVIEW 1.4 About This Book This book is designed for the reader who wants to be an expert on the ways of the Digital Universe with Partiview. Inside these pages, in gross detail, are the specifics of each data set, how it may be used to tell stories about the Universe, and how to manipulate these data to illustrate scientific concepts. The guide was designed to be read electronically rather than on paper. A paper version will not take advantage of richly distributed, documentwide links. Also, it is impossible to search a paper document other than by eye, and this process leaves a lot to be desired. If you’re not convinced, think of the trees. We use the following conventions in this book:
