features or goals with other texts prior to it. Though logically<br />

arguable, intertextuality is best exemplified in criticisms, replies,<br />

paraphrases and comments. Informativity means that a text should carry<br />

at least a minimum semantic load in order to stimulate its recipients<br />

to monitor, manage and change human situations.<br />

Of these seven criteria, two seem prominently text-oriented<br />

(cohesion and coherence); two prominently psychological (intentionality<br />

and acceptability); two prominently social (situationality and<br />

intertextuality), and the last, computational (informativity). Those<br />

criteria are closely inter-related in the sense that 'texthood' is<br />

conditioned by the active and harmonious interplay <strong>of</strong> these<br />

requirements and/or whether these criteria are upheld. Moreover, "none<br />

<strong>of</strong> the criteria can be appreciated without considering all four<br />

factors: langauge, mind, society, and processing". (de Beaugrande,<br />

1980, p21).<br />

Standards <strong>of</strong> textuality, however, are important in so far as text-<br />

actualization is concerned. On the other hand, categorization <strong>of</strong><br />

texts/discourses helps not so much as an attempt to compartmentalize<br />

human verbal activity in terms <strong>of</strong> linguistic science but as a palpable<br />

means <strong>of</strong> rendering these texts structurally analyzable and,<br />

consequently, understandable. No text-typology, so far, is absolutely<br />

unquestionable, nor unanimously authoritative. Current text-<br />

typologies are the outcome <strong>of</strong> indefatiguable and ceaseless efforts<br />

made by text-typological theorists in an attempt to establish dividing<br />

lines between various text types. All attempts to set text-typologies,<br />
