History of ACHA Since its inception in 1920, the American College Health Association has been dedicated to the health needs of students at colleges and universities. It is the principal leadership organization for the fi eld of college health and provides services, communications, and advocacy that help its members to advance the health of their campus communities. Today, ACHA’s membership has grown from the original 20 institutions of higher education to over 800. These member institutions represent the diversity of the higher education community: two and four year schools, public and private, large and small. ACHA also serves more than 2,800 individual college health care professionals, including: ��administrators and support staff ��physicians and physician assistants ��nurses and nurse practitioners ��nurse directors ��health educators ��mental health professionals ��dietitians and nutritionists ��pharmacists ��students dedicated to health promotion on their campus ACHA’s mission statement, strategic plan, and annual report can be viewed at www.acha.org/About_ACHA/Who_We_Are.cfm. � previous www.acha.org next�
