History of <strong>ACHA</strong><br />
Since its inception in 1920, the <strong>American</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>Association</strong> has been dedicated to the health needs of<br />
students at colleges and universities. It is the principal leadership organization for the fi eld of college health and<br />
provides services, communications, and advocacy that help its members to advance the health of their campus<br />
communities.<br />
Today, <strong>ACHA</strong>’s membership has grown from the original 20 institutions of higher education to over 800. These<br />
member institutions represent the diversity of the higher education community: two and four year schools, public<br />
and private, large and small.<br />
<strong>ACHA</strong> also serves more than 2,800 individual college health care professionals, including:<br />
��administrators and support staff<br />
��physicians and physician assistants<br />
��nurses and nurse practitioners<br />
��nurse directors<br />
��health educators<br />
��mental health professionals<br />
��dietitians and nutritionists<br />
��pharmacists<br />
��students dedicated to health promotion on their campus<br />
