B.C. 111. This coin was <strong>the</strong>refore struck B.C. 31.<br />
The right <strong>of</strong> asylum was possessed by many Asiatic cities.<br />
The titles I EPA <strong>and</strong> AZYAOZ first occur on <strong>the</strong> <strong>coins</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
Sidon under Cleopatra <strong>and</strong> Antiochus YIII., B.C. 121.<br />

These two interesting <strong>coins</strong> are dated according <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
era <strong>of</strong> Ascalon. The head on No. 18 is that <strong>of</strong> P<strong>to</strong>lemy<br />
Auletes, B.C. 81-52; that on No. 19, <strong>of</strong> his daughter Cleopatra,<br />
B.C. 52-30, who was in B.C. 50 nineteen years <strong>of</strong> age.<br />

This king may have been a son <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ApoUodotus who<br />
was contemporary with <strong>the</strong> last years <strong>of</strong> Eucratides, as<br />
his <strong>coins</strong> are later in style.<br />

Hermaeus was <strong>the</strong> last <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Greek kings <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> northwestern<br />
district <strong>of</strong> India.
