Less service means less cost. You already know the value of product reliability when buying a tractor. However, fast, simple maintenance, which gets you in the field quicker, can be equally important. Fortunately, the 5400 Series has you covered on both counts. The replacement interval on transmission oil and filters, for example, has been increased to every 1,200 hours, while the engine oil change interval is now 400 hours — so you spend more time working and less time servicing the machine. Thanks to the new one-piece hood, it’s a lot easier to get to the engine and cooling system, too. Simply lift the hood for access to all engine components, including engine air filter, belts, alternator, air conditioning compressor and radiator fill. Chances are it’ll take you longer to pack your lunch than it will to get the tractor ready to go. The ground-level fuel tank includes an oversized fuel inlet for easy access and reduced splash back. An optional 12-gallon (49 L) or 12-gallons (45 L) (depending on model) auxiliary fuel tank makes fuel stops even less frequent. The MF5465 and MF5475 feature a cassette-type engine air cleaner, positioned at the front of the tractor, that makes service even less time-consuming. A redesigned cooling package on the six-cylinder MF5465 and MF5475 provides greater surface area for better cooling capacity, better sealing from outside dust and easier maintenance. Cooler units and heat exchangers conveniently tilt up and away from each other for complete access and easy cleaning. An externally accessible cab air filter is easy to change and helps keep the cab interior free from dust. The batteries are easily accessible by removing a cover beneath the steps on the right side of the cab/platform.
