with Wendell Tyler. I could talk about Tyler who is
obviously just in the game for the money. Why else would
Tyler leave a world champion team to go into a league
that might not even survive?
Another person suggested writing on a far less grrcdj
person who never receives recognition for all his hard
work. This person. Hill Tuiasosopo. coaches junior varsit.
r--,KMI, assists with varsity footl- " helps with junior
varsity and varsity wrestling, it a hall guard, and yet gets
Minimal publicity. Tu'aso.sopo should be credited with a
lot grcuc amount of recognition than he receives.
Or, another possibility is the topic of school spirit and
support to Lowell. The varsity baseball team is doing so
well that the team is already assured a playoff berth, and
the season is not even over. But, the only fans who come
out arc the same .small handful that go to every game.
Someone said to do a column talking about sports related
injuries and how athletes tape and drug themselves up just
to be able to compete. Their injuries could further result
in permanent damage because the proper treatment rest,
was not used. Is it we h the risk of destruction for just
a chance to live the thrill of the moment?
An interesting topic could be wiittcn about the nicknames
the Lowell varsity baseball players give each other. The
names include: Jim Archulcta as Pepc. Danny Brauri as
Spunky. Paul Coleman as Lumpy. SMV Dytigi as Buufunt.
Steve Folan as Radish, Jason Gallcgos as Pini.iin" Jay. Dan
Harr! glon as Biscuit. Kevin Jordan as The (obscenity)
Sophomore, Dave Kwong as King Kwong. Ernie Le.- as
Rockin' E. Leo. Roger Lim as Radical Rog. John Mat
suoka as The Hulk, Marvin Metoyer as Tree Frog. Jeff
Murasc as Happy. J.mn Nakatani as Meatball, Toby Sicjsil
as Slinky kichard Weeks as Sparky. Uric Worn; as The
Wonger. Coach Donohuc as Schnapps. Coach .V xaluso
as Secret Squirrel, and Coach Miller as Chaw. But. ycj
could not really write an entire article about that.

Being an ardent Giants fan. I jumped at *io nppoitunits
to interview pitcher Atlec Hammakcr for Ilic Unveil
Reporter Sherri Eng had contacted Giants" publicity
directot' Duffy Jennings, w.io aj;rc. knew it. Jennings arrived and gave us oneday
press passes along with a media guide and a publicity
photo of Atkc. We were then escorted into an elevator
which took us near an interview room adjacent to the
players' parking loi.
We set up four chairs iirnvnd a table and sat down and
wailed. Atlec canic in and shook v 'lands wl.ile we introduced
ourselves.
