Whether you’re turning damp windrows or
pulling swathed hay together ahead of the
baler, New Idea 4100 Series parallel bar
rakes do it efficiently and effectively. Thanks
to the five-bar basket design, you’ll gently
lift and turn valuable forage, so each bale
retains optimum crude protein and relative
feed value. With each pass, you’ll sweep
more leaves into every fluffy, uniform
windrow and leave nothing behind but
clean stubble.
In fact, 4100 Series parallel bar rakes
incorporate a number of features designed
to help you put as much high-yielding crop
as possible into every bale.
Hydraulic-drive models let you adapt to a
wide variety of field conditions; from heavy,
wet hay to light, dry straw. Basket speed is
independent of travel speed, and speeds
range from 80 to 120 rpm at working speeds
of up to 10 mph, so you pick the pace. You
can even reverse basket direction for gentle
tedding or fluffing that speeds drying time –
and saves you the expense of additional
equipment.
The 4100 Series ground-driven models are
ideal for use with small tractors without
hydraulics. The enclosed, direct-drive, oillubricated
gearbox provides positive drive
from the ground to the basket, and it easily
engages for raking and disengages for
transporting between fields. An overrunning
clutch in the drive wheel hubs lets wheels
travel at different speeds without affecting
basket speed, so you get fluffy, even
windrows no matter how many times you
turn or curve.

Save labor and fuel and get your hay out
of the field faster, with the 4111 dual rake
hitch. On-the-go hydraulic control lets you
combine rakes in the pattern that best fits
your needs; to generate two windrows
simultaneously or convert two windrows into
one. And, because the 4111 features
hydraulic rear rake positioning, you can
negotiate tight corners and narrow gateways
with ease.
What’s more, you can easily position the
rakes for transport – just line up both rakes
behind your tractor and use the transport
lock bar to secure the rear axle in place.

WHEEL RAKES, V-RAKES, & Bi-FOLD RAKES
Our rakes cover a lot of ground.
Big balers and big acreage call for a rake
that can cover a lot of ground quickly. With
New Idea’s 4300 Series wheel rakes, that’s just
what you get. Eight- and twelve-wheel bi-fold
rakes are available in manual-fold and hydraulicfold
models to match your operation and
your budget. The twelve-wheel high-capacity
model delivers maximum capacity, even in
heavy crops. V-rakes, in eight-, ten- and
twelve-wheel models, offer an economical
alternative for smaller operations.
V-Rakes
Dependable New Idea V-rakes combine
rugged performance with simple design
and construction featuring the same heavyduty
rake wheel found on New Idea top-ofthe-line
models.
Each 55”-diameter wheel rests on tapered
roller bearings so wheels roll smoothly and
easily. Forty teeth per wheel sweep more
hay into every windrow. And 7mm-diameter
teeth resist breakage and wear.
All adjustments are simple and efficient. One
single-acting cylinder lets you fold both wings
up for transport or lock only the left-hand link-
age for single-side raking. Each rake arm rests
on an adjustable spring to set the amount of
downward pressure on rake wheels.
Raking width can be set to one of three
positions, then fine-tuned with the turnbuckle
located on each wing. And windrow width
can be set from 48” to 72”, in 6” increments.
Bi-Fold Rakes
New Idea 8-wheel and 12-wheel bi-fold rakes
offer you a choice of convenient hydraulic-fold
wings or economical manual-fold.
Whichever you choose, independently
mounted wheels let you individually adjust
each wheel so you hug the ground over the
roughest terrain. The heavy-duty frame is
constructed of rugged, box-beam steel,
and fully castering gauge wheels on the
outboard ends of each rake beam provide
clean raking on all types of terrain.
New Idea’s hydraulic-fold models let you
choose the exact windrow width you need,
within each model’s given range, by simply
turning the ratchet-type turnbuckle through
an infinite number of settings. Manual-fold
models offer a choice of three raking widths.

RAKE SPECIFICATIONS
The 8-wheel Models 4317 (mechanical) and
4318 (hydraulic) rake in up to 17.2 feet of crop
into windrows that are adjustable from 40 to
68 inches in width. A transport width of 9.5 feet
and a frame width of just under five feet make
these models ideal for smaller fields.
For greater capacity, the 12-wheel Models
4321 (mechanical) and 4322 (hydraulic) pull
in up to 24 feet of crop to gather in wide
swaths and scattered windrows. Yet both
models close down easily to a transport
width of less than 9’8”.
High-Capacity Wheel Rake
For large operations or custom operators,
the 12-wheel Model 4324 high-capacity rake
delivers optimum performance. Inboard
rake wheels and a 46-inch rear beam clearance
combine to allow a continuous flow of
high-volume hay. Raking width is infinitely
variable from 0 to 24 feet, with windrow
width adjustable from 38 to 58 inches.

New Idea’s 4200 Series tedders are available
in two sizes – the two-rotor 10’ Model
4210 and the four-rotor 17’ Model 4217 – to
fit the needs of large and small operations
alike. For the ultimate in versatility and economy,
the Model 4264 tedder rake performs
six different functions and meets virtually any
crop or field conditions.
All three models feature:
• An integral torque limiter clutch to protect
the driveline and all drive components.
• Adjustable guards that surround the
front side of the rotors to protect tedder
teeth and rotor arms from damaging
encounters with fences, tractors and other
obstructions.
• Sturdy, double steel tines to move the crop
in any direction you choose, without
missing a stem.
• 15 – 6:00 x 6 ribbed flotation tires that
smooth out travel in soft or rough fields.
Operator-friendly features on the Models
4210 and 4217 include:
• Tine savers that prevent broken tines from
being left in the field, for an extra measure
of operator assurance.
• Simple crank adjustment to change rotor
angle and tedding action so you quickly
match fluffing action to drying conditions.
• Easy transport, with a transport width of
only 6’2” for the Model 4210 and 9’1” for
the Model 4217.
With the Model 4264 tedder rake, you can
simply change rotor rotation, teeth direction
and/or frame angle to:
• turn and fluff a windrow
• spread rain-soaked windrows to dry
• ted hay away from a fence line or field
boundary
• rake hay into one or two windrows
• position a single windrow to the left of
the machine
• combine two windrows into one, for
faster harvesting

Model 4217 Tedder
Changeover from one job to another is
fast and easy, thanks to simple rotor and
operating height adjustments and a
reversible gearbox. And the 4264 folds up to
a transport width of only 6’6”.
The Model 4240 rotary rake features a
cam-operated tine action that works well in
all types of hay. However, with its gentle raking
action, the 4240 is especially effective in
crops like alfalfa, which require gentle handling
to prevent leaf loss. The 4240 leaves
you with fluffier, well-aired windrows, so wetter
crops dry down quickly and uniformly; a
plus when you’re raking silage or rushing to
get your hay in before the weather changes.
Thoughtful design and construction make
the 4240 durable, efficient and productive.
Its heavy-duty, welded steel frame withstands
years of use in rough or uneven
fields. A single-acting, hydraulic cylinder
and regulation valve lets you lift the entire
frame, for clearing windrows, adjusting
tine clearance or transporting. Raking
height is adjusted quickly and easily with
a single crank.
The sealed, internal rotor cam controls the
release point of the rake teeth. The adjusting
cam, located at the rear of the 4240,
lets you set the cam for dry hay or green
forage so you get optimum windrows for
any crop conditions.
