Whether the inclination for hunting incorporates the inclination for new perceptions,
new customers, or new ways in dental technology – if you are dealing
with new manufacturing techniques you can sense it. And this is not so much
the appealing novelty as such, it is the feeling of pleasure when opening up
new avenues.
We are equally keen on hunting. And this even more so, if you share this exciting
inclination for hunting with us, such as, for example, the master dental
technician, Ömür Pak from Bochum, Germany. Four years ago, he intentionally
decided to enter into the copy milling technology as the next evolutionary
step. In the meantime, he makes use of the overall “Ceramill Mall” (see more
on p. 3). It was also a decisive issue whether the system is continually further
developed and expanded, such as with the new “Ceramill Artex ® ” module
(virtual articulator) or the abutment module “Ceramill M-Plant”.
Processes are linked more and more digitally and are now on an alternative path
beyond the stage of the mere framework construction. Functional parameters
that also form the basis for the aesthetic completion, have already become a
constituent of the system chain. Further steps are to follow.

Bochum, Germany, is a typical
child of the region. He does
not only have his heart in
the right place, but he also
wears his heart on his sleeve.
Ömür Pak’s way – despite
diverse resistance – has
always been very straightforward
and determined:
Following schooling and
master training he decided to start his own business at the
age of 27. Open-minded and enthusiastic – these are the
characteristics that also took him to the Ceramill system.
He quickly perceived that his freedom-loving spirit would
benefit from the implementation of the copy milling technology:
namely to manufacture Zirconium oxide frameworks
precisely and efficiently on his own initiative. But it
would not be Ömür Pak, if he paused at this point.
“Zirconium copings are good,” so he believes, “however, a
change in direction is better.” Already at an early stage he
came into contact with the CAD/CAM technology. But he was

_Ceramill Artex ® is the link between
manual and digital dental
technology.
_The virtual articulator offers the
same functional scope as compared
to the real Artex ® CR (Adjustment
modes of the horizontal inclination
of condylar guidance (Bennett
Angle; Retrusion; Immediate Side
Shift).
_The calculation of the fully anatomical
construction is dynamic and
static under consideration of the
antagonists and the adjusted
values of the articulator.
_Disturbing structures in the construction are automatically removed and adapted with the
movement of the virtual articulator.
_The fully anatomical construction is reduced specifically with the virtual articulator by
means of the anatomically supported framework design. The framework thus offers
sufficient room for the porcelain build-up.
_The grinding in of the dental prosthesis in the mouth of the patient is being reduced to a
minimum with the fully anatomical construction.
The transfer of the models from the articulator into the Ceramill Map300 is made by
means of the Ceramill-Fixator being equally brought into line, thus the precision on
the transfer path is guaranteed at all times.

Therefore, it was no question
for him to order
AmannGirrbach’s Ceramill
Mall presented at last year’s
trade fair IDS. “The milling
software Ceramill mind incorporates
in one single mask
via a “cockpit” all the
required software modules (scan, construction, milling path
calculation) – there is one integrated surface from the
order to the finished framework – work thus becomes much
more comfortable and process-related mistakes are being
eliminated from the very beginning”, so Pak. In June 2009,
he held the eagerly awaited Scanner Map300 in his arms
and could get started immediately. “The set up and installation
were very easy – field service and Ceramill Helpdesk
provided smooth support to master the initial difficulties. Of
course, we were very excited about the first results from
the manufacturing center – and in the end very impressed
about the fit and quality.“
In December “Ceramill
motion”, the compact milling
unit, was finally on the
market. With this product, he
now again manufactures the
zirconium units himself,
but also wax and acrylic
frameworks. “This provides
me with many possibilities
to differentiate. In no time,
it is possible to construct
and mill a wax up that due
to the virtual articulator,
even fits functionally. Once
I have constructed the
substructure in zirconium
oxide the assembled data
may then also be used immediately for an overpress
framework. The purring of the Motion is like music in my
ears because I know that I am working efficiently.“ The data
of the works from materials that cannot be processed in his
milling unit (Titan, NEM and glass ceramics) are sent on
to the Ceramill M-Center, which manufactures these within
48 hours.

needs the virtual articulator...
With manual production of dental prosthesis working with
the articulator is standard for dental laboratories. In order
to achieve the same quality of the works virtually, it is only
logical and consistent to enable this by means of a CAD-CAM
system.

Ceramill Artex ® forms the functional interface
between manual and digital prosthetic dentistry.
The model pair articulated in the Artex ® articulator is transferred
by means of the Ceramill Transferkit to the Map300-
Scanner whilst in the same Artex ® mode. Then the models
are scanned in the same spatial relations to each other. The
motion mode and free zones of the Artex ® CR are thus
brought into line on the same modes - digitally and manually.

Why does it make sense always to construct a
full anatomical dental prosthesis in CAD?
By means of Ceramill Artex the final result can be controlled
from the beginning. The virtual articulator is essential when
constructing a full anatomical restoration because this is
where a fully functioning occlusion is imperative. When a
framework is produced using the Ceramill Artex, sufficient
space for the porcelain build-up is automatically included in
the construction. This procedure provides an optimal,
anatomically shaped base for the porcelain layer providing
high stability and an even porcelain thickness (reliable
aesthetics).
