FIVE EXTRA POLICE
OFFICERS FOR
KU-RING-GAI LAC,
ANNOUNCED BY
O’FARRELL
North Shore police numbers have
been boosted with an extra five
officers allocated to the Ku-ring-gai
Local Area Command according to
Premier and Member for Ku-ring-gai
Barry O’Farrell said.
“I am delighted to have these new
officers serving our community and
I wish them well in their careers,” Mr
O’Farrell said.
He criticised the NSW Opposition
for misleading police numbers, most
recently by claiming they were down
because of the formation of the new
Police Transport Command and
a dedicated Traffic and Highway
Patrol Command.
“The officers in the Traffic and
Highway Patrol Command and
the Transport Command are now
under the leadership of dedicated
commands as opposed to the Local
Area Commands,” Mr O’Farrell said.
“They haven’t vanished in a puff of
smoke, as the Opposition would
have Bush Telegraph Weekly
readers believe.
Both the Traffic and Highway
Patrol Command and the Transport
Command will continue to support
Local Area Commands but the
new structure will enhance the
capabilities of the Police Force.
The Transport Command is
currently staffed by more than 300
officers from local commuter crime
units, with the command actively
increasing its numbers until it
reaches 610 officers by December
2014.
The 2012-13 state Budget includes
$178m in recurrent funding over the
next four years to bring the NSW
Police Force to a record strength of
16,356 officers by June 2014.
“We have record police numbers
in our State and it’s disappointing
the Opposition tried to mislead
Bush Telegraph readers by claiming
numbers are down – nothing is
further from the truth,” said Mr
O’Farrell.
Rainbow on the River …
and other Dangar Tales
Local author Ann Howard has restored and lived in The Pavilion on
Dangar Island for 38 years. An established author, her two new books are
Rainbow on the River and Derrymacash to Dangar.
Rainbow on the River sheds light on previously unknown history of
Dangar Island with many marvellous river tales.
The second book Derrymacash to Dangar is Eileen McConville’s account
of her father fleeing the Black and Tans* and ending up on Dangar Island
in the 1950s. Eileen, his daughter and one of twins, describes being a
bit of a rascal (aged eight) on the Island and disobeying a strict Scottish
mother. Both books are lavishly illustrated with original photographs.
Copies can be obtained from annhoward@ozemail.com.au $25.00 and
A potential Laing + Simmons
customer once asked me if
Georgie Effenberg’s energy level
would wane after I signed her up
to sell my house. I laughed at the
thought and told them that wasn’t
humanly possible. Georgie worked
tirelessly in selling my house, be
it in providing outstanding advice
on preparing the property for sale,
drumming up business, or following
up with all potentials to ensure a
fast sale at the best price.
To be honest I sometimes wondered
if she was selling her own home!
Outstanding, professional and
friendly service – working tirelessly
for you. How could you ask for
more? And as for waning energy
level? I don’t think so.
