Fhasu (adj.) [etym. ? Trenckner, Notes 82 (on Miln 14":<br />

corr. J.P.T.S. 1908, 136 which refers it to Miln 13'*)<br />

suggests connection with Vedic prasu enjoying, one<br />

who enjoys, i.e. a guest, but this etym. is doubtful ; cp.<br />

phasuka. A key to its etym. may be found in the fact<br />

that it never occurs by itself in form phasu, but either<br />

in composition or as °ka] pleasant, comfortable ; only<br />

neg. a° in phrase aphasu-karoti to cause discomfort to<br />

in cpds. 'kama anxious for<br />

Phasu at Miln 146 (cp. p. 425) " bhagga phasu " is uncertain<br />

reading, it is not phasuka ; it may represent a<br />

(lasa snare, sling. <strong>The</strong> likeness with phasuka bhagga<br />

(lit.) of J 1.493 is only accidental.<br />

Phasuka (adj.) [fr. phasu. Cp. Prk. phasuya ;<br />

ace. to<br />

Pischel, Prk, Gr. § 208 Jain Sk. prasuka is a distortion<br />

of P. phasuka. Perhaps phasu is abstracted from<br />

phasuka] pleasant, convenient, comfortable J in
