ace. use (like a 0) as adj. is tankhaqlkJ (fr. tag khaijag)<br />

Vin 111.140 ( = muhuttika). — (y) a reduced form of<br />

tai) is to be found as ta° in the same origin & application<br />

as ta-d- (under a in comb" ft) ta-y-idag (for tagidag>tag-idar|>ta-idao>ta-y-idag)<br />

where y. takes the<br />

place of the euphonic consonant. Cp. in application<br />

also Gr. Toino & ravra, used adverbially as therefore<br />

(orig. just that) Sn 1077; Pv 1.3^; PvA 2. 16 ( = tag<br />

idag). 76. <strong>The</strong> same ta° is to be seen in tahag Vv 83"*<br />

(=tag-ahag), & not to be confused with tahag = te<br />

ahag (see tvag). — A similar comb" is tagyatha Miln i<br />

(this is how, thus, as follows) which is the Sk. form<br />

for the usual P. seyyatha (instead of ta-(y)-yatha, like<br />

ta-y-idag) ; cp. Trenckner, P.M. p. 75. — A sporadic<br />

form for tad is tadag Sn p. 147 (even that, just that;<br />

for tathag ?). — II. Application : i. ta° refers or points<br />

back to somebody or something just mentioned or<br />

under discussion (like Gr. nvToi, Lat. hie, Fr. ci in void,<br />

ect homme-ci, etc.) : this, that, just this (or that), even<br />

this (or these). In this sense comb** with api : te c' api<br />

(even these) Sn 1058. It is also used to indicate something<br />

immediately following the statement of the speaker<br />

(cp. Gr. o5f, E. thus) : this now, esp. in adv. use (see<br />

below) ; tag kig mannasi D 1.60 yam ; etag panhag<br />

apucchiAjitatag vadamite; Sn 1037; tag te pavakkhami<br />
